2011 has been an exciting year for our Crabber 26 'Jessie' and we are delighted with her performance on the water and her popularity with our clients.
The Crabber 26 is a fantastic addition to the Cornish Crabber's fleet, providing a pretty, functional cruiser with wide side decks and teak inserts in the cockpit coamings. With contrasting deck paint and teak trim reducing the apparent height of her topsides, she is instantly recognisable as one of the Crabber family, ideal for single or short handed sailing.
Jessie is light, spacious and airy with a heads/shower compartment to port of the companion way and compact galley to starboard. Two settee berths flank the centreplate case which has folding table leaves. Headroom is a very comfortable 1.9 metres. The heads are generously proportioned and practical with plenty of room for climbing out of wet weather gear and space to hang it afterwards.
The camber of the coach roof combines with an elliptical radius down to the sides to take away the visual bulk of the superstructure. A hull draft of 2'6" combined with a deep, narrow centreboard are not normally associated with cruising boats of this genre and the comparatively heavy displacement on a slippery hull keeps her going in the lulls and also converts potential leeway into hull speed in windier conditions.
The Crabber 26 is a joy to sail with good performance to satisfy any skipper.
"...one of the very best of days! We made two new friends, Jessie, a lovely Crabber 26' and Richard of Cornish Blue Sailing. We now consider 'a day in a Crabber' as an add-on to our Top Ten list of best things to do before we die. Our experience was a 100% success, a wonderful vessel, she sailed like a dream, and under the expert eye of Richard, we quickly learned how to get the very best from her....Such is her design that even remembering that this was our very first time in a gaff rig, her ease of handling allowed us to sail right back to the marina, no mean feat considering the traffic!..."
